Lesson 41 | Simultaneous Plucking (Plaqué)
Shift from sequential notes to vertical harmony by mastering the simultaneous strike of the index (i) and middle (m) fingers as they accompany the melody played by the thumb (p).
Studio Insights
The Unified Strike
The challenge here is the "Plaqué"—striking two or more strings at the exact same moment. Focus on the symmetry of your right-hand fingers to ensure the notes speak as one unified voice, rather than a "flammed" or staggered sound.
Right Hand Shape
Maintain a relaxed "claw-like" curvature in the right hand. This blueprint allows the fingers to move independently from the knuckles, which is the secret to engineering power without losing speed.
The Hover Principle
Keep your left-hand fingers hovering close to the fretboard. This minimizes unnecessary movement and builds the habit of efficiency needed for faster chord changes later.
The Play along
I've found that at the begining of the learning journey it can be very helpful to have a recording to follow along. Remember that you can easily change YouTube video playback speed on any device by clicking the settings gear icon, selecting Playback speed, and choosing a different speed from the menu, or even setting a custom speed.
